Established on 09th April 1996 to manufacture furniture using traditional methods of joinery, creating lasting products of quality and craftsmanship. A small showroom at 48 Albert Road Woodstock, Cape Town, South Africa, served to display the furniture.

On 29th December 1998 the PETERSEN'S name and logo with the 'Three Leaves' is certified by the Registrar of Trade Marks in terms of The Trade Marks Act of 1993, as a Registered Trademark. All furniture manufactured by PETERSEN'S carries the label of authenticity.

January 2002 - PETERSEN'S attends its first International Trade Fair as an exhibitor; The International Furniture Fair IMM; in Cologne, Germany, showcasing The African Revival Collection, manufactured in African Rosewood.
The Cape Town showroom afforded PETERSEN'S the opportunity to showcase the company's design capability, craftsmanship and joinery skills. Developing Brand awareness and establishing the values and standards the company upholds.

29th April 2004 the Closed Corporation is converted to a Company and registered as PETERSEN'S (Pty) Ltd.

September 2005 - PETERSEN'S attends its first Outdoor Furniture Trade Fair as an exhibitor; SPOGA; in Cologne, Germany, showcasing The African Patio Collection, manufactured in Iroko.
